Looking to Get Involved in the Community?

Madison House has partnerships with over 160 organizations to provide a diverse network of volunteer opportunities for UVA students. Take some time to explore our service networks to find a way to connect with the Charlottesville-Albemarle community.

Who We Are

Madison House has 7 staff members, three of which advise programs directly.  All of our volunteer programs are student-run and student-led. The leadership consists of 22 Head Program Directors who advise 200 Program Directors who work directly with a Community Partner and the volunteers at their site. We also have students that serve on our Board of Directors and as interns. Interested in a leadership position? Applications to serve as a Head Program Director, Program Director, a student representative on the Board of Directors, or a Non-Profit Management Intern are available early in the spring semester.

What does volunteering with Madison House look like in my schedule?

Madison House encourages a weekly commitment of a one to three hour volunteer shift over the course of a semester or full academic year to develop a mutually beneficial relationship for you and our community partners. Be sure to check each specific program for the required time commitment.

How do I sign up?

Volunteer registration opens the first day of classes in the fall and spring semesters. Therefore, volunteer registration for this academic year opens on August 22, 2017 and January 17th, 2018 respectively.

Each volunteer program has its own program-specific registration form. To sign up, please explore our list of programs and click the program(s) that interest you to complete a registration form.

NOTE: Medical Services has a separate registration process that *not* online. For details about how to join Medical Services, please click here.
