The Animals & Environment program works with several community groups and businesses to help improve the welfare of Charlottesville’s animals and environment.

What will volunteers do?

Each site has a different job for volunteers to do. Volunteers may work on a farm, caring for the farm animals and assisting with the farm’s upkeep, help tend a garden, restore local parks and trails, help with horseback riding, work at the SPCA, the possibilities are endless!

The shifts are approximately two hours, once a week, depending on the site. Transportation will be provided via carpool.

How can I get involved?

Registration opens August 22, 2017. Click the "Register to Volunteer with Animals & Environment" tab in the left-hand column of this web page.

After submitting the form, a Program Director will contact you with further information.

“Madison House has given me not only an avenue to give back to the community, but also an opportunity to grow as a student, as a leader, and as an individual.”
