PLAY is a program that provides Charlottesville and the surrounding community with volunteers to help out in community centers and schools. Volunteers serve as mentors and role models while working with students in an after-school environment.
What will volunteers do?
At most sites, volunteers will spend the beginning of their shift tutoring and helping students out with their academic needs. The second hour consists of games, sports, and fun activities. The volunteer will not only serve as a tutor, but also as a mentor and a friend. Specific tasks vary upon location.
Volunteers are expected to work a weekly, two-hour shift. Dates and times vary according to location. Transportation will be provided via carpool.
