What We Do
Adopt-A-Grandparent develops meaningful, one-on-one relationships with seniors that will improve the quality of life for both the seniors and volunteers.
Creating Assets, Savings and Hope (CASH) provides free tax preparation service to benefit low and moderate-income, elderly, and disabled families. CASH is sponsored by the IRS’ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program which was established more than 40 years ago and nationally-renowned.
Hoos Assisting with Life Obstacles seeks to address the issues of hunger, homelessness, unemployment and other life obstacles through direct assistance to families and individuals who are in need of food, educational training, and companionship.
Housing Improvement works to improve the housing conditions of the Charlottesville-Albemarle residents. Projects and sites are diverse, ranging from a full house construction to building wheelchair accessible ramps.
HELP Line is an anonymous, confidential telephone service serving University of Virginia students. Volunteers provide callers with a nonjudgmental, empathetic ear for any issue that the caller wishes to discuss.
Holiday Sharing partners with the Salvation Army to brighten the holiday season by collecting, assembling, and distributing ‘gift packages’ for around 120 needy families in the community.
