Madison House Donor Spotlight: Rob Hilliard

UVA alumnus and former Madison House Alumni Council member Rob Hilliard (CLAS ‘74) has written a trilogy of novels called the Cutter Wellington Trilogy. He has generously agreed to dedicate the proceeds of the trilogy to Madison House.

As an undergraduate student, Rob’s involvement with Madison House consisted of managing public relations (PR) for a 5k walk for people suffering from multiple sclerosis. It was also during his time at the University of Virginia that he provided PR services to the UVA Sports Information Office and the inaugural UVA ice hockey team. It was through a combination of these experiences that he found that he had the knack and passion for marketing and PR, which he pursued and excelled at during his later career.

“Reflecting on my time at UVA, one of my regrets was not becoming involved with Madison House earlier,” Rob confessed, adding: “Had I done so, my time at UVA would have been that much richer.”

Rob’s appreciation of the value that Madison House offers to the community by marrying student volunteerism with the Charlottesville community has increased over time. It was because of this that he decided to become a donor and increase his involvement through membership on the Madison House Alumni Council. It was in this capacity that Rob truly came to know the House and all it does for its volunteers and the Charlottesville community.

Rob is launching his book series, the Cutter/Wellington trilogy, on April 20th at 2nd Act Books in Charlottesville. Purchase information can be found here. Proceeds from paperback book sales from this link and at the event will go to Madison House.

Description from the author:

“The fictional story of Thomas Jefferson Cutter III, a 1974 graduate of UVA and up-and-coming star in the thoroughbred breeding and racing industry, represents a three-year stream of consciousness that borrows from virtually every aspect of my life’s experiences.”
