38 HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS WIN FULL MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS TO ATTEND UVA

The 38 Jefferson Scholars selected this year come from 22 states and one foreign country and will join a community of current scholars, who are active and visible leaders at the University.

“Jefferson Scholars historically have had an impressive record of leadership at the University,” said Ben Skipper, director of graduate and undergraduate programs at the Jefferson Scholars Foundation. “Since the first class joined UVA in 1981, they have held leadership positions on the Judiciary and Honor committees, Student Council, The Cavalier Daily, Madison House and countless student organizations.”

Next year there will be 145 Jefferson Scholars on Grounds.

“We are confident that these new scholars will be outstanding members of the UVA community and will bring distinction to the foundation and the University while students and as alumni,” Jimmy Wright, president of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation, said.
